- 1987 : Rainforest Alliance foundation in New York set up by Daniel Katz.
- 2004 : 13 million hectares of forest have been certified by Rainforest Alliance.

- 1999 : A "Utz Kapeh" office (good coffee in Maya language has opened in the town of Guatemala.
- 2007 : Utz Kapeh has adopted the "UTZ CERTIFIED Good inside" controlled origin designation and will include other raw materials such as cocoa and tea.
